CoinDesk August 2026 Exchange Report｜RWA becomes the new growth battleground for exchanges, Binance holds the top spot, and Gate sees the fastest growth! 1️⃣ RWA perpetuals are emerging as the new growth frontier for exchanges. In August, the RWA perpetual trading volume on CEXs hit $602 billion, setting a new all-time high. According to the data, Binance remains firmly in the lead, with OKX following closely behind. Gate is the fastest-growing platform in this wave, with a monthly trading volume increase of 158%, reaching $64.7 billion. Its market share quickly rose from 5.32% to 12.6%. 2️⃣ Crypto exchanges are making a full recovery. In August, the total trading volume on centralized exchanges grew by 12.7% to $4.29 trillion, rebounding from July's multi-year low. The spot market led the recovery, growing by 18.7% to $891 billion, while derivatives trading volume saw a more moderate increase of 11.3% to $3.40 trillion. Gate's growth isn't limited to RWA.
