[Wang Chun Responds to Stakefish Lawsuit: Demanding Validators Recover Rewards Based on Off-Chain Claims Will Set a Dangerous Precedent]
F2Pool co-founder and Stakefish founder Wang Chun (Chun) posted on the X platform, stating that Oleksii Trofimchuk filed a lawsuit on September 8 in the Santa Clara County Superior Court against Lido Finance and Stakefish. The lawsuit alleges that after his wallet was compromised, a competing MEV bot submitted high-priority fee transactions to claim ETH. Chun stated that as a validator, Stakefish only packages legitimate transactions according to Ethereum protocol rules and cannot, nor should it, adjudicate off-chain ownership or competitive asset claims. He warned that requiring protocol-compliant validators to recover rewards based on off-chain claims would set a dangerous precedent, forcing validators to filter transactions based on ownership claims they cannot independently verify. This would introduce legal uncertainty to staking rewards and undermine Ethereum's decentralization and credible neutrality.
