Thick-skinned for real. SBF went to the Supreme Court, claiming customers didn’t lose money in the end. According to *The New York Times*, FTX founder SBF filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court on September 10, trying to overturn his 2023 convictions for fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. He’s still in jail, sentenced to 25 years. His lawyers argue that the trial judge didn’t allow them to present evidence showing that 'customers ultimately didn’t suffer losses.' They’re also trying to overturn the $11 billion forfeiture order, claiming it’s too harsh and violates the Eighth Amendment. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals already upheld the original verdict in June this year, so this petition is basically a Hail Mary. The reason he dares to say customers didn’t lose money is because FTX compensated based on crypto prices from November 2022, the day it declared bankruptcy. Back then, 1 Bitcoin was worth about $17,000. But if you had 1 Bitcoin on FTX back then, the money you got back wouldn’t even buy you a third of a Bitcoin today, with prices around $77,000. The people who left their crypto on FTX back then are now being used as evidence for his appeal.
