[U.S. August CPI Data to Be Released Tonight at 20:30]
The U.S. Department of Labor will release the August CPI data at 20:30 Beijing time on Friday. Economists expect overall CPI to rise 0.4% month-on-month and 3.4% year-on-year; core CPI is expected to rise 0.2% month-on-month and 2.4% year-on-year. According to CME FedWatch, the market estimates a roughly 70% probability that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 25 basis points in September, which, if realized, would be the first rate hike since July 2023.
