[ZTE President Xu Ziyang: In the AI Era, Network Evolution is Transitioning from 'Internet of People' to 'Internet of Intelligence'] On September 10, at the 2026 China Unicom Partner Conference, ZTE President Xu Ziyang stated that as network evolution progresses in the AI era, the focus of connectivity is transitioning from the 'Internet of People' to the 'Internet of Intelligence.' The value metric is shifting from bits to tokens, and network capability demands are moving from traditional download-centric models to those emphasizing uplink capacity and determinism. Xu Ziyang explained that to meet the connectivity demands of the AI era, ZTE is comprehensively driving connectivity upgrades and strengthening the foundational compute-network infrastructure: solidifying network capabilities with high uplink bandwidth, deterministic assurance, and the integration of communication and sensing intelligence; expanding connectivity boundaries through integrated air-space-ground upgrades; enhancing operational efficiency with intelligent operations and maintenance; and converting differentiated services into commercial value to establish scalable and replicable business models. He emphasized that computing power is the core productivity of the AI era, while the network serves as the 'main artery' enabling the efficient flow of computing power. To this end, ZTE has proposed the concept of 'strengthening computing with the network.' (People's Financial News)
