[The U.S. Department of Commerce allocates up to $100 million each to three quantum computing companies, including Rigetti, under the CHIPS Act, and will hold minority equity stakes in them]
According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Department of Commerce, under the CHIPS Act, has allocated up to $100 million each (a total of $300 million) to three quantum computing companies: Rigetti, D-Wave, and Quantinuum. The funds will be used to advance the development of fault-tolerant quantum computer hardware, manufacturing, and error correction systems, with the department holding minority equity stakes in the three companies.
Meanwhile, Ethereum has set December 2029 as the deadline for achieving "quantum resistance" across its execution layer, consensus layer, and data layer. Bitcoin developers are also advancing two post-quantum signature migration proposals, BIP-360 and BIP-361. Industry experts believe a viable migration path must be established before 2029.
