According to Wu Blockchain, SideSwap's official disclosure revealed that on September 6, a consensus vulnerability was found in the underlying Elements software of the Liquid Network. Exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker created approximately 4,000 L-BTC out of thin air without collateral and then redeemed them through SideSwap's peg-out service. The Liquid Federation ultimately released about 3,996 BTC, and SideSwap automatically transferred approximately 3,995.999999 BTC to the attacker's address.
