[Liquid Releases Emergency Update Elements v23.3.4 to Fix Proof Verification Cache Vulnerability] Reported by Jinse Finance, on September 10, Liquid Network released an emergency version, Elements v23.3.4. Functional nodes are undergoing immediate upgrades, and all Liquid node operators are advised to update accordingly. This version addresses a proof verification cache vulnerability by enhancing the security of cache keys used in range proofs. The update has undergone multiple rounds of internal and external reviews by teams such as Bitcoin Red Team and Alpen Labs. Liquid Network also announced a preliminary recovery plan: first, resume block production while keeping peg-in operations suspended; then, reprocess transactions that have been verified as valid; finally, once the network is fully restored and funds have been returned, resume peg-in operations. Blockstream is concurrently testing the first two phases, and the specific sequence and implementation may be adjusted based on test results. Liquid Network further warned that scammers have taken the opportunity to set up fake update websites. Users should only refer to official channels from Liquid Network and Blockstream and must not transfer funds or disclose private keys or mnemonic phrases to unknown parties.
