MACRO: 🇺🇸U.S. mortgage rates hit their HIGHEST level in over a year.
The 30-year fixed rate climbed to 6.85% last week, up roughly 0.75 percentage points since the Iran war began, per Bloomberg.
Rising energy prices have fueled inflation concerns, pushing borrowing costs higher.
Refinancing applications fell 6.2% to their lowest since May 2025, while home purchase applications slipped 0.2%.
For households, the squeeze is growing: more expensive financing on top of higher energy bills, leaving less room for spending elsewhere.(Coin Bureau)
