[U.S. Bancorp Advances Development of Stablecoin USBDC, Completes Real-Time Cross-Border Payment Test]
According to CoinDesk, U.S. Bancorp (America. Bancorp, USB), the fifth-largest commercial bank in the United States, has completed a real-time cross-border payment test using its USD stablecoin, USBDC. The transactions were executed between its North American and European entities via the Stellar blockchain. The pilot also tested USBDC's minting, redemption, freezing, and rebate functionalities, and validated its internally developed digital asset platform. U.S. Bancorp stated that it is exploring various use cases for USBDC, including cross-border treasury operations, liquidity management, and collateral transfers, but did not disclose when the stablecoin would be available to customers or provide a commercialization timeline.
