WTI crude oil surged past 94+ and then started to pull back, but there’s no news of easing at the moment.
We can’t always pinpoint the exact reasons behind price movements. For example, the afternoon spike to 94+—was it driven by panic over the Houthis retaliating against Saudi/U.S. military bases, or was it a short squeeze rally? From a chip perspective, there’s a significant pressure zone between 94-97, and without news of extreme escalation in the situation, it’s hard to break through in one go.
However, if prices drop from here and later news emerges about Trump intending to ease tensions, that would also make a lot of sense.
News and updates are always retrospective—we only know the truth during post-event analysis. What we need to do is open positions at high-probability levels and cut losses quickly when we’re wrong.
