WuTalk has learned that Circle announced an update to the fee mechanism for its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) Fast Transfer, introducing a prepaid model. Previously, protocol fees were deducted from the USDC received on the destination chain. With the update, developers can now use the Quote API to get a unified quote before executing a cross-chain transfer and prepay fees using the native gas token of the source chain or USDC. Circle stated that this mechanism integrates Fast Transfer and Forwarding fees into a single quote, reducing the need for developers to handle multiple protocol fees while ensuring users receive the full expected amount of USDC on the destination chain.
