[Bitcoin Core Developers Unable to Reach Consensus on AI Applications]
Christine D. Kim, founder of Protocol Watch, published an article stating that last Thursday, Bitcoin Core developers held their weekly meeting, with the central topic being whether the team has already 'fallen behind the times' in AI applications. Spiral lead Steve Lee raised concerns from donors and community members that the Core project has neither adequately defended against AI network threats nor effectively utilized AI to assist with code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting. Recent security incidents have heightened the urgency: over 5,200 Bitcoin addresses were hacked this month, resulting in the loss of more than 1,800 BTC, with hackers reportedly exploiting a Coldcard wallet vulnerability discovered by Kimi K3. Meanwhile, the CLN client urgently patched a critical vulnerability due to a 'surge in AI-generated reports.'
