According to Caixin, the latest official reserve data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange shows that as of the end of August 2026, China's gold reserves increased to 76.73 million ounces, up by 650,000 ounces in a single month—the largest monthly increase since November 2023. Since November 2024, the People's Bank of China has increased its gold holdings for 22 consecutive months, with a total addition of 3.93 million ounces. Over the past decade, the PBOC has conducted four rounds of gold accumulation. In June 2015, the central bank disclosed its gold reserve data for the first time in 74 months, revealing reserves of 53.32 million ounces, an increase of 19.43 million ounces compared to the end of April 2009.
