[Australia Removes 45 High-Risk Crypto and Remittance Institutions from Registration Within a Year]
According to Cointelegraph, Australia's financial intelligence regulatory agency AUSTRAC has canceled, suspended, or refused to renew the registrations of a total of 45 crypto and remittance service providers over the past year. Reasons cited include prolonged inactivity, insolvency, lack of operational capacity, failure to report significant changes as required, false registration information, and significant risks of money laundering or terrorist financing. AUSTRAC emphasized that institutions whose registrations have been canceled are prohibited from continuing operations, and some associated individuals have been referred to Australian and overseas law enforcement or regulatory agencies. BA Digital Ventures (GetCoins) was specifically named, with its virtual asset registration canceled in June due to allegations of being exploited in an organized crypto investment scam. This action was reportedly implemented in coordination with the National Anti-Scam Centre, aiming to combat related fraudulent activities.
