Finished my research and now I know how to maximize the utility of my USDG. I tried it out with $100K as a demo to share with everyone and teach you about OKX's new one-click looping loan feature.
1️⃣ The underlying logic!
You’ll need to use the OKX Wallet. Essentially, it automates the following process:
USDT / USDG
→ USDG
→ Pendle
→ PT-USDG
→ Collateralize on Aave
→ Borrow USDG / USDT
→ Convert back to PT-USDG
→ Collateralize again
→ Borrow again...
2️⃣ How does 6.8% turn into 34.6%?
Here’s the basic logic behind this PT-USDG strategy:
Pendle yields around 3.3%. Then, by depositing PT-USDG into Aave, you can earn up to an additional 3.5% in rewards. So, without leverage, the official combined APY is about 6.8%. Subtract Aave’s borrowing cost of around 4.3%, and the net yield is roughly 2.5%.
But when you use collateral to borrow more and loop it a few times, you can amplify the yield—though this also increases liquidation risk.
3️⃣ Things to watch out for:
1) Be mindful of slippage during the conversion process. You can refer to @BitHappy’s steps to avoid slippage.
2) PT-USDG will mature on October 29, so make sure to keep an eye on the expiration arrangements.
3) Always monitor the liquidation threshold of your looping loan and be prepared to take action if necessary.
