[Insider: Intel CPU Prices to Increase by Another 10%]
DeepTech TechFlow reports that on September 8, supply chain insiders revealed that due to soaring overall costs, Intel (INTC.O) PC CPUs have already seen price increases over the past year, with another 10% hike tentatively scheduled for early October. Despite a projected slight decline in the PC end-market by 2027, Intel has chosen to raise CPU prices, signaling that boosting gross profit margins remains a top priority, with past strategies of aggressive price cuts to gain market share no longer in play.
Supply chain analysis suggests that if Intel sets low gross profit margins as a critical threshold for product retention, certain products may inevitably be phased out. Once this demand is released, it could provide opportunities for Arm ecosystem players like MediaTek and Qualcomm to step in. This is particularly true in the IPC, edge computing, and IoT markets, where Arm SoCs offer advantages such as high integration and low power consumption. (Jin10)
