The test for who connects to the grid fast is becoming:
"how much like a Bitcoin mining company are you?"
Context:
MISO (the mid-continent’s electric grid for 45M people, not the soy product that tastes good in soup) just filed new rules for anyone wanting 50 MW+ of grid power.
They read like a Bitcoin miner's resume:
👀 Stay visible in real time
📈 Ramp predictably
🐎 Ride through disturbances
📴 And if you want fast-tracking, also accept being switched off when the grid is stressed.
This matters because grid access is the bottleneck for the whole AI buildout.
MISO might as well have said "if a portion of your AI power (1-3%) is Bitcoin mining, you'll get onto the grid faster than your competitors.(Daniel Batten)
