[Former U.S. President Biden's Son Plans to Launch Meme Coin LAPTOP]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on September 7, as reported by *The Wall Street Journal*, Hunter Biden, son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, plans to launch a meme coin named LAPTOP, inspired by the controversy surrounding his laptop. The coin is set to go live on September 9 on Coinbase's Base network. The founding team, including Hunter Biden, will hold 30% of the total token supply (1 billion tokens), which will be locked for six months and fully unlocked within two years. Additionally, 20% of the tokens will be airdropped in two batches to users who previously incurred losses on the Trump meme coin TRUMP, subscribers to Hunter Biden's Substack, his friends, and users on a mailing list maintained by video journalist Andrew Callaghan. The remaining 20% will be allocated for charitable donations, liquidity, partnerships with exchanges and market makers, as well as covering the accounting, legal, administrative, and compliance costs of the token foundation.
It is reported that the founding team has also agreed on a burn mechanism involving 30 predefined events. If these events achieve their predetermined outcomes within a specified timeframe (e.g., the Democratic Party winning the 2028 presidential election, Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high, or LAPTOP's fully diluted valuation surpassing TRUMP), up to 30% of the token supply could be burned. If the outcomes are not achieved, the tokens will be proportionally donated to charitable organizations.
The report also noted that Hunter Biden has recently been actively participating in podcasts, news programs, and writing Substack articles, where he has shared his views on cryptocurrency. He has also commented on controversies involving the Trump family's crypto project, World Liberty Financial, and Justin Sun.
