Two other inflation gauges are running cooler. The Dallas Fed's trimmed mean Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE), which strips out the biggest price swings on both ends, is at 2.3%. Truflation's core reading is 1.3%. Cathie Wood believes the 3.7% headline is the outlier, distorted by the oil price impact from the Iran war, and that it is setting up to turn down.
