Bitcoin ETFs pulled in roughly $3.54B in August. ETH ETFs attracted about $1.84B over the same month. But what about all the other altcoin ETFs? Is there actually demand beyond the big 2? Here’s what I found: One interesting date is August 28th. Bitcoin ETFs saw roughly $202M in net outflows, but several other crypto ETFs were still attracting money. ETH took in about $102M, XRP $26M, SOL $17.3M, and HYPE $4.5M. One day isn’t enough of a sample size, though. Here’s how those four non-BTC categories looked across the full trading week of August 24–28: • ETH: +$815.7M • SOL: +$142.7M • ripple:native: +$110.5M • HYPE: +$56.8M Nice, so there was demand beyond BTC and ETH. SOL and XRP both attracted more than $100M that week, and HYPE brought in another $57M. Those three combined took in roughly $310M, although ETH still attracted way more than all 3 put together. But the following week is where the picture gets more interesting. From August 31 through September 4, net inflows into the SOL funds tracked by Farside slowed to just $4.9M. HYPE’s fell to $12.3M. Both were still positive for the week, but the pace was very different from what we’d just seen. And that happened while Bitcoin ETFs attracted another $987M. So there’s clearly demand beyond BTC and ETH, but I wouldn’t call it a broader trend yet. SOL and HYPE’s inflows slowed sharply the following week, even while BTC kept attracting money. SOL, XRP, and HYPE are the ones I’m watching. I’m more interested in whether they can keep attracting money over the next month than how much they brought in during one strong week. 2 quick thoughts 1. I'm surprised Solana hasn't been attracting more inflows from TradFi 2. Not too excited for any other future altcoin ETFs. I don't see how they can move the needle if these aren't.(Edgy - The DeFi Edge 🗡️)
