The public chain shutdown wave has begun.
Just two weeks after the ancient public chain @Lisk announced its shutdown, another ancient public chain, @harmonyprotocol, has also announced its closure.
The Harmony chain launched back in 2019, with the team claiming it was the first PoS chain to truly implement sharding on the mainnet.
In June 2022, Harmony's cross-chain bridge, Horizon, was hacked for approximately $100 million, which the FBI later confirmed was the work of North Korea's state-sponsored hacker group, Lazarus.
And just last month, Harmony was attacked again, with a cross-shard receipt replay exploit minting a massive amount of native ONE tokens out of thin air, forcing the team to roll back.
This became the final straw that broke the camel's back.
