Mohajerani noted that the prices for the first and second tiers, including the 110-liter quota, will remain unchanged, but the price for the third-tier quota will be raised to 100,000 Iranian rials per liter, equivalent to approximately 4 cents based on the free market exchange rate. Currently, Iran's gasoline prices are among the lowest in the world. Previously, the government had discussed raising gasoline prices but postponed the decision due to concerns that it might trigger a new wave of protests. In 2019, large-scale protests erupted in Iran over the same issue. Mohajerani stated that the increased fuel prices this time will only affect consumers who need more than 110 liters of gasoline per month. The adjustment is due to the 'current situation.'
