[Citi Issues Tokenized Structured Notes, Banco do Brasil Purchases $5 Million]
According to Ledger Insights, in March of this year, Citi issued its first native digital structured note on Euroclear's D-FMI tokenization platform, targeting distribution through Citi's wealth management business. Now, Banco do Brasil (a state-controlled bank) has announced that it has invested $5 million to purchase subsequent notes from the same Citi project. The Brazilian bank stated that this transaction marks the first of its kind for financial institutions in Latin America. On August 19, Banco do Brasil made the investment through its proprietary funds division, using its own capital rather than investing on behalf of clients. Citi Group issued the note through its Luxembourg entity, with its London branch serving as the issuing and paying agent. The underlying reference asset of the structured note has not been disclosed.
