According to CryptoSlate, citing two studies conducted in 2026 on 48 major Ethereum DAOs, actual governance power in DAOs remains highly concentrated: in 39 of the DAOs, the top 10 token holders control over half of the voting power, and delegated voting tends to be even more centralized than direct voting. Among 36 DAOs requiring governance rights registration, on average, only about 21% of the token supply was actually registered. The article uses Compound Proposal 289 as an example, where the proposal passed after a late surge in supporting votes, aiming to transfer approximately 499,000 COMP tokens. However, the related fund allocation was later canceled through a settlement. Following this, Compound introduced a veto mechanism to allow intervention before abnormal governance outcomes are executed. CryptoSlate points out that while such "emergency brakes" can reduce the risk of governance attacks, they also tend to re-concentrate more control into the hands of a few, leaving DAOs to continually balance between automated execution and manual intervention. https://(wublock123.com)/news/dao-governance-power-highly-centralized-strengthening-security-controls-67902
