[Vitalik: EIP-8141 Transaction Type Will Prepare Ethereum for Decentralized, Ultra-Scale Expansion in the Coming Years]
Odaily Planet Daily News - Vitalik posted on the X platform, stating that recent research on transaction formats has provided Ethereum with a clearer understanding of 'actions' and 'dependencies' within transactions, allowing for separate optimization of the two. Signatures, UTXO Merkle proofs, and ZK-SNARK or STARK fall under dependencies, while sending ETH calls fall under actions. Dependencies can be processed in parallel; state-related dependencies can be handled by the memory pool, while pure dependencies can be processed once at the memory pool layer and potentially replaced by STARK proofs, thereby reducing execution and data processing.
Vitalik pointed out that Ethereum's current scaling strategy requires a clear distinction between dynamically flexible and statically analyzable components, with the latter achieving lower Gas costs. Based on transaction volume, over 90% of Ethereum activities do not require dynamic flexibility. The EIP-8141 transaction type is evolving toward a universal and minimalist call list direction, with new state types, recursive STARK memory pools, and keyed nonces also aligning with this direction.
