[U.S. Central Command: U.S. Military Sinks Three Iranian Revolutionary Guard Oil Tankers] Golden Finance reported that on September 5, the U.S. Central Command issued a statement saying that on September 5, after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy ships patrolling regional waters, U.S. Central Command forces attacked three Iranian crude oil tankers. A U.S. aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked attacks by Iran. No U.S. personnel were injured. Following Iran's failed attacks, U.S. Central Command permanently sank the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' crude oil tanker "Downy" near Kharg Island and the crude oil tanker "Stark 1" near Jask. The U.S. military also completely destroyed the unladen tanker "Kelo" (also known as "Noxon") in the Gulf of Oman. After the crew was ordered to abandon ship, the U.S. military targeted multiple critical parts of the vessel, rendering it incapable of further navigation. These three Iranian crude oil tankers were part of a secret multibillion-dollar network that funds the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its regional proxies. Iran was unable to protect these tankers.
