The U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) released an analysis stating that it reviewed 33,904 Bank Secrecy Act reports submitted between September 8, 2023, and December 31, 2025, identifying approximately $12.7 billion in financial activities linked to suspected digital asset investment scams. FinCEN noted that these scams, often referred to as 'pig butchering,' romance scams, or cryptocurrency trust scams, are primarily carried out by transnational criminal organizations based in Southeast Asia. These groups typically use fake identities and counterfeit investment websites or apps to trick victims into transferring funds, then leverage professional money launderers, shell companies, money mules, and stablecoin transfers to move the money. FinCEN also issued a risk alert, urging financial institutions to enhance monitoring and report suspicious activities. https://(wublock123.com)/news/fincen-1-27-billion-suspected-digital-asset-investment-scam-67875
