Anthropic's IPO has been delayed by several weeks. According to Reuters, the timeline for Anthropic's IPO has been pushed back, with the prospectus (S-1) disclosure now scheduled as follows: 1) Originally expected to be released as early as “next week” (the week following Labor Day on September 7), it has now been postponed to late September. Roadshow/marketing launch: 2) Investor marketing is expected to begin in mid-October at the earliest. 3) The official listing is anticipated to be completed a few days before the U.S. midterm elections in November. The 2026 midterm election day is November 3 (Tuesday), so the IPO window roughly falls between late October and early November. The direct reason for the delay seems to be operational: Anthropic is finalizing a $15 billion revolving credit facility. Bloomberg previously reported that the company is negotiating to expand the facility to $15 billion. Once the credit facility is finalized, analysts from the participating banks are expected to meet with the company. Typically, there’s a gap of several weeks between analyst meetings and the prospectus disclosure; however, since analysts are already quite familiar with Anthropic, this window will likely be compressed. It now looks like the process of “credit finalization → analyst meetings → prospectus disclosure → roadshow” is being shifted back, making this a procedural delay rather than any other issue. Earlier reports suggested the IPO filing would happen on September 7, but now it seems to be pushed back by three weeks. The compressed timeline leading up to the election means the roadshow and pricing will need to be completed in mid-to-late October, which also shifts the market impact further down the line.
