According to a report by *Lianhe Zaobao*, pyramid schemes commonly known as the "1040 Sunshine Project" have been operating in Guangxi, China for a long time. These scams often falsely claim to have secret support from the government, luring participants to pay ¥69,800 and recruit others, with promises of eventually earning ¥10.4 million. Anti-pyramid scheme advocates have noted that over the past two years, this scheme has evolved into multiple upgraded versions, with more covert organizational methods that make it harder for police to crack down. Chengdu police previously revealed that related groups also use emerging concepts like "virtual currency," "e-commerce," and "consumer rebates" for packaging, but the core remains recruiting people, charging entry fees, and tiered commissions. Recently, 52 Singaporean citizens were arrested and detained in Guangxi for allegedly participating in pyramid schemes and related illegal activities. Chinese authorities are still investigating the case.
