[Trump Says Iran Conflict 'Not a Big Deal for the U.S.' and States It Is Not a State of War] According to Golden Finance, on September 5, U.S. President Trump stated that the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, which has lasted for more than six months, is 'insignificant' and said he would not describe it as a major war. On Friday, Trump referred to it as a 'military conflict' but said, 'It’s not a big deal for us,' and noted that there is no sustained fighting between the two sides at present. Trump responded to Vice President Vance's earlier remarks that it 'should not be called a war,' saying, 'In many ways, that’s true,' and added that the U.S. is currently only conducting intermittent strikes. Trump once again compared the 18 U.S. military personnel deaths in this conflict to the Vietnam War and the Afghanistan War, stating, 'Losing even one person is too many,' but emphasized that the two wars resulted in tens of thousands of U.S. military deaths. He also claimed that the U.S. has achieved significant results regarding the Iran issue. Polls show that the American public has a low opinion of Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict. Due to the conflict driving up energy prices, the Republican Party is under pressure to maintain control of Congress in the November midterm elections. Statements by Trump administration officials downplaying the impact of the conflict have also been criticized by Democrats.
