[Blue Origin, Owned by Bezos, Poaches Dozens of Amazon Satellite Engineers]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on September 3, Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos, is developing its planned satellite network, and its employees have been poached from another Bezos-owned company—Amazon. Based on LinkedIn data, the billionaire's space company has poached at least 47 senior employees from Amazon's Leo satellite project over the past year. An analysis of their online posts reveals that many of them are now involved in the development of Blue Origin's emerging satellite communication project, TeraWave.
Amazon's Leo project plans to begin selling broadband internet services to customers by the end of this year, with the ultimate goal of expanding to households, businesses, and governments worldwide. Meanwhile, TeraWave, announced by Blue Origin in January, is seeking regulatory approval to build an equally ambitious satellite network consisting of thousands of satellites. This network aims to serve enterprise and government clients with high data transmission needs, which previously often required custom fiber-optic connections to fulfill.
