[CNBC to Close Hong Kong Office] On September 3, according to Bloomberg, CNBC, a subsidiary of Versant Media Group Inc., will close its Hong Kong office and cancel several daily live programs. In an email statement sent by CNBC, the company stated that it has discontinued the programs *Inside India*, *The China Connection*, and *Europe Early Edition*. Special programs such as *CNBC Meets* and *Built for Billions* will also be discontinued. A CNBC spokesperson said that as part of this programming and production adjustment, the Hong Kong bureau will be closed, but news coverage of Hong Kong and the broader region will continue as part of its Asia reporting. Earlier this year, Comcast Corp. spun off its cable networks, including CNBC and MS NOW, into a new company called Versant. Earlier this year, CNBC also laid off more than 10 employees, including the editor-in-chief of its website.
