Met a few friends yesterday and tried to explain airdrops. You tell them that you used an app early, bridged a few times, took some trades, swapped some tokens, provided feedback, and then months later, a protocol might reward you with tokens worth more than a normal salary (for minimal effort). Their first reaction is: “What is the catch?” And to be fair, that reaction makes sense. In the trad world, nobody sends you money for being an early user. Not every airdrop is life-changing, though, and not every chain is worth your time. Plenty of projects will disappoint, and some are outright scams. But the idea that curiosity, onchain activity, and being early can create asymmetric upside is still one of the most insane opportunities on the internet.
