GameStop 2.0 has officially started: An AI-generated idea turned into reality, and someone actually followed through with it. Meme coin + stock = $70M market cap speedrun! A couple of days ago, Rune posted an absolutely explosive thread: Spend $1.8M to buy 37.4% of a Nasdaq penny stock, move the stock to Robinhood Chain, and then issue a meme coin paired with the stock token. Here’s the play: People buy the meme → The meme pool constantly needs stock tokens → Demand for stock tokens skyrockets → Eventually, the buying pressure gets pushed back to Nasdaq, squeezing the shorts. But then, the plot thickened. Turns out, there’s no solid evidence of any actual “acquisition.” Rune even shared a conversation with Claude, where the original prompt was just asking AI to pretend he’d done it and write it convincingly. It was supposed to be nothing more than a LARP idea. And then the craziest thing happened: Someone actually did it. Out of nowhere, a token called JINQIAN popped up on Robinhood Chain, paired directly with the stock token of Nasdaq penny stock FAMI. Contract: 0xe81880c1c5054245e036359f5c7be31606e79f56. Even the name wasn’t randomly chosen—FAMI is a Chinese company that sells edible mushrooms. In its SEC annual report, it specifically mentions a product called Jinqian, which translates to “Golden Money Mushroom.” Then the meme on-chain started going wild, and FAMI’s stock on Nasdaq also began to move: On September 2, its intraday price surged from around $0.12 the previous day to nearly $0.1925, with trading volume exploding from about 5.3M shares to over 57M shares. Rune saw this and couldn’t help but post: “lmao someone actually did this.” This is what I think is truly genius. In 2021, GameStop was about Reddit retail investors buying stocks first and then squeezing Wall Street shorts. In 2026, this new playbook starts by creating a meme on-chain, turning a penny stock worth a few million dollars into the trading foundation of a meme coin, and then letting crypto’s attention, trading volume, and speculative energy flow back into the stock market. On Robinhood Chain, over 17% of the stock token supply has already been locked into meme pairing pools, with some pools consuming more than half of the token’s circulating supply on-chain. So the most dangerous and fascinating part of GameStop 2.0 is that in the future, a meme coin could genuinely become the attention engine for a U.S. stock. Crypto is finally starting to reverse-engineer Wall Street’s traffic flow.
