[Trump Urges Construction of More Refineries, But Oil Companies Show Limited Willingness to Invest] According to a report by Golden Finance on September 2, citing The Wall Street Journal, Trump urged the industry to build more fuel-producing refineries during a meeting with oil company executives at the White House on Tuesday. However, convincing companies to take such action is not easy. Building new refineries is economically unfeasible, requiring billions of dollars in investment and three to five years for construction. The oil industry predicts that the energy market will likely rebalance long before new refineries are completed. Energy Aspects analyst Robert Campbell stated, "No one is going to rush into a multi-billion-dollar investment just because of three months of record-breaking profit margins." Building new refineries faces significant obstacles, starting with the arduous task of obtaining various permits required by federal, state, and local governments. Meanwhile, as consumers purchase more electric vehicles and engine efficiency continues to improve, gasoline demand is expected to decline in the long term. (Jin10)
