[AI Security Startup AIR Completes $50 Million Seed Round Financing, Led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on September 2, as reported by TechCrunch, AI security startup AIR announced the completion of two seed funding rounds, raising a total of $50 million, and officially emerging from stealth mode. The first round of $10 million was led by Sequoia Capital, while the second round of $40 million was led by Greenoaks. Other participants included Swish, Netz, and several angel investors from the security and technology industries.
AIR was founded by former members of Israel's Unit 8200, Yair Saban and Niv Hoffman, and primarily provides an AI agent security platform for enterprises. This platform can identify AI agents operating within an organization, continuously audit the skills, plugins, MCP servers, and add-ons they use, and block agents from accessing software or external sources that do not meet security standards.
AIR believes that as enterprises grant AI agents access to databases, corporate systems, and the internet, a "software supply chain" around AI agents is forming. Attackers could potentially launch indirect attacks by contaminating the content AI agents read or tampering with plugin components. To address this, AIR offers visibility monitoring, runtime interception analysis, and whitelisted plugins and skills that have been reviewed.
Currently, AIR has over 20 clients, about a quarter of which are large enterprises, with demand primarily coming from highly regulated industries such as financial services and pharmaceuticals. The company stated that the new funds will be used to hire researchers and expand its market presence in the U.S. and Europe.
