**[Strategy Opposes MSCI's Proposed Index Screening, May Be Removed from Global Investable Market Index]**
Odaily Planet Daily News: Bitcoin treasury company Strategy Inc. requested on August 31 that MSCI withdraw its proposed eligibility test, which could result in the company being removed from the Global Investable Market Index (GIMI). Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and CEO Phong Le stated that the method is discriminatory, arbitrary, and misguided. MSCI plans to adopt a two-stage screening process: companies with operating assets exceeding 50% of total assets can retain eligibility; those failing this criterion may lose eligibility if they trigger at least four out of five financial indicators. Simulations show that Strategy, Metaplanet, and Yellow Cake may be removed from the index, with Strategy involving a market capitalization of approximately $23.93 billion.
Strategy argued that neither U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) nor International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) distinguish between operating and non-operating assets in the manner proposed by MSCI, and it classifies its Bitcoin treasury business as an independent operating segment. The company also highlighted its approximately 1,500 employees, annual software business revenue nearing $500 million, and issuance of Bitcoin-backed credit instruments. MSCI's consultation will conclude on September 30, with a decision expected to be announced on October 16. (Source: (Bitcoin.com) News)
