The organization had previously spent over $130 million on advertisements and media campaigns during the 2024 election cycle. Democratic candidate Jason Poulos sent a letter to Auchincloss on August 16, urging him to "publicly condemn" Protect Progress's involvement. Poulos claimed that part of the funding was used to create "AI-generated spam" in support of Auchincloss and pointed out that Auchincloss has directly received $77,500 in donations from cryptocurrency industry sources since 2020. He also noted that Auchincloss voted in favor of the "Digital Asset Market Clarity Act" in July 2025, a bill currently under Senate review and not yet signed into law. Fairshake and its affiliates had already spent approximately $3.6 million in congressional races in Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming in August. Fairshake reported having approximately $122 million in cash ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
