The suspects allegedly claimed they needed €1.5 million in crypto assets as proof of funds to facilitate the transaction. During a suspected meeting in Milan, they reportedly obtained the victims' account information and security keys, transferring the assets. The victims filed a police report the next day, and after about a year of investigation, French authorities arrested the two suspects on June 25.
