[Apple CEO Cook: Very Satisfied with Ternus as the New CEO] Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that he is very satisfied with John Ternus taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer and mentioned that he will 'miss this job' after stepping down as CEO. In April this year, Apple announced that Cook will transition to the role of Executive Chairman on September 1, 2026, with the current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, succeeding him as CEO. The board described this arrangement as part of a long-term and carefully considered succession plan. Ternus joined Apple in 2001, became Vice President of Hardware Engineering in 2013, and is currently responsible for hardware engineering for products such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods. He also previously contributed to Apple's transition to in-house chips for Mac.
