Today is Cook's last day as Apple's CEO. Starting tomorrow, September 1, 51-year-old hardware engineering veteran John Ternus will officially take over the reins at Apple. The last time such a transition happened at Apple was in August 2011, when Cook officially succeeded the company's founder, Jobs.
