FOMO has been on fire lately.
The timeline isn’t just full of FOMO anymore.
It’s FOMO within FOMO.
Looking back at TOAD now, the contrast is pretty striking.
TOAD originally had a great chance to become the blueprint for Pumpfun’s counterattack against FOMO.
The setup was almost perfect:
Pumpfun early investor @mdudas personally got involved.
He discovered the project through Pump’s mobile information feed.
After buying in, the DEV transferred him about 18% of the tokens.
Then came the profile picture change, meme play, public token distribution, and even a promise not to sell.
The people were there.
The tokens were there.
The story was there.
“1988’s first Pepe” — a bit of a throwback, but at least it’s more memorable than the zoo animals being mass-produced every day.
@mdudas even publicly stated:
With @a1lon9’s help, he wanted to get TOAD into the accounts of Pump’s 100,000 daily active users.
But while the vision was ambitious, the reality was brutally honest.
TOAD’s market cap peaked at $20 million.
Now it’s down to just over $4 million.
What’s more awkward is that @mdudas keeps mentioning @a1lon9, but there’s been no visible response from the other side on the timeline.
One person is banging the gong on stage.
The other seems to have muted the group chat notifications.
This is the most interesting part of TOAD right now.
The issue might not be that the narrative isn’t good enough, or that @mdudas isn’t trying hard enough.
On the contrary, he’s been working very hard.
The problem is that FOMO’s strength has never been just one KOL and a big bag of tokens.
What makes FOMO truly powerful is a group of leaders publicly holding positions, spreading the word, and turning social connections into direct trades.
It’s a continuously operating distribution network.
But TOAD currently feels more like:
@mdudas standing at Pump’s door with eighteen boxes of ammo, shouting like crazy.
Meanwhile, the Pump boss walks by without even rolling down the car window.
So at this stage, TOAD hasn’t proven that Pump’s social trading can counter FOMO.
Instead, it’s proven one thing:
A big KOL can spark the fire.
But if the platform doesn’t follow up, the fire will only burn the KOL’s reputation.
Whether the price can recover later is uncertain.
But this time, @mdudas’s reputation has definitely taken a hit.
A price drop can be explained as a shakeout.
But when the boss leaves you on read, that’s a tough one to spin.
Hurry up and register for FOMO so Pumpfun doesn’t have to keep worrying. Registration link:
