The trend of AI wealth creation continues: the number of billionaires worldwide has increased to 3795, reaching a historic high Odaily Planet Daily News: The latest report released by wealth intelligence company Altrata shows that in 2025, the number of billionaires worldwide soared to a historical high of 3795, with an increase of 8.2%, the strongest in five years. The rise in the stock market, monetary stimulus policies, and the investment boom in artificial intelligence (AI) have driven the rapid growth of the wealth of the super rich. The total wealth of billionaires will increase by 12.8% in 2025, setting a record of $15.1 trillion, equivalent to nearly a quarter of the total market value of the S&P 500 index. This is the third consecutive year of accelerated growth in billionaire wealth, with the current average billionaire wealth being $4 billion. But in reality, the median net worth of billionaires is close to $2 billion, reflecting a high concentration of wealth in the hands of a very small number of 'super billionaires'. By region, the number of billionaires in North America increased by 11.6%, surpassing all other regions to reach 1337 (35% of the global total); The number of billionaires in Europe has increased for the second consecutive year, by nearly 8%, reaching 1081 people (28% of the global total); Asia is the third largest region for billionaires, with the number of billionaires increasing by 6.5% to 881. The report points out that since 2023, the AI investment boom has been one of the most important drivers of global billionaire wealth creation, and its impact will become more apparent in 2025 and the first half of 2026. The enthusiasm of investors for generative AI, big language models, cloud computing, and AI software has attracted unprecedented capital, driving a significant reassessment of the market value of many technology companies. Due to the fact that billionaires' wealth is typically concentrated in company equity, the founders and major shareholders of leading global technology companies have become the biggest beneficiaries of AI driven tech stock price increases, which directly translates into a significant increase in personal net worth.
