[Russia's First Year of Regulated Crypto Trading Expected to Reach $46.43 Billion] Odaily Planet Daily News: Anatoly Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Russia's largest bank, Sberbank, stated that the first year of regulated crypto trading in Russia is expected to reach at least 4 trillion rubles, approximately $46.43 billion. The bank predicts that as investors shift to the official trading system, the scale will grow to about 7.5 trillion rubles, approximately $87.06 billion, by 2029. He noted that the majority of crypto trading volume will still occur outside the regulated exchange system, with about 20% of the trading volume in the first year—equivalent to 3.5 trillion to 4 trillion rubles annually—being conducted through exchanges. The relevant framework will take effect on September 1, allowing investors to legally purchase crypto assets through brokers. Non-qualified investors will be allowed to purchase up to 300,000 rubles worth of crypto assets annually through a single licensed intermediary and must pass a risk awareness test; qualified investors will have an investment cap of 3 million rubles. Official exchanges will only be permitted to trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT, while other altcoins will be excluded. Exchanges have until July 1, 2027, to complete their registration.
