Altcoins have changed. I used to rely on altcoins to grow my small funds back in the day—breakouts meant immediate surges, gains of 10-20% were easy to come by, and small funds could snowball into large positions. This year, a lot of the money earned from mainstream coins has been handed over to altcoins! My mindset is still stuck on breakouts, trends, and big green candles, but since last year, the liquidity of altcoins has already dried up. Just a few candlesticks can smash through all support levels—what seems like a breakout is just the beginning of a rug pull. The market has evolved: quant trading, market makers, liquidity hunting grounds. That wild era of getting rich off altcoins feels less intuitive for me now. If you don’t take profits after a few percentage points, you could get wrecked in minutes! Altcoins—love them and hate them! They helped me rise back then, but now they’re so hard to play. Maybe it’s because my position sizes are too big! I really need to stop clinging to the past!
