[Starkware Completes Quantum-Resistant Transaction on Bitcoin Mainnet Without Soft Fork]
Odaily Planet Daily News: Blockchain technology company Starkware announced that on August 26, a transaction utilizing researcher Avihu Levy's Quantum-Resistant Bitcoin (QSB) solution was successfully mined on the Bitcoin mainnet without requiring a soft fork, hard fork, or changes to consensus rules. The transaction consumed 10,000 satoshis and was processed through the MARA Foundation's Slipstream service. Due to its non-standard format, it typically cannot propagate within Bitcoin's public mempool. The test required several hours of GPU computation, costing approximately $150 to $200. QSB employs hash function-based quantum-resistant spending conditions and reduces quantum attack risks through trial mining of signatures. However, it still requires users to proactively migrate funds and cannot protect assets with exposed public keys. Starkware CEO Eli Ben-Sasson continues to advocate for a protocol-level solution to be introduced via a soft fork. (Bitcoin.com News)
