Back in 2009, a popular study claimed the average lifespan of a fiat currency is just 27 years. Economists have pushed back hard on that number, and honestly, the methodology has real holes in it. So let's not pretend we know the exact expiration date. Nobody thinks the dollar disappears next year. The pound has been around for centuries. Neither looks like it's headed to the chopping block anytime soon. But here's what we can't argue away: your purchasing power is shrinking right now, quietly, every single day. And when governments really lose control, it's not gradual. Ask anyone who held Venezuelan bolivars, Zimbabwean dollars, or Lebanese pounds. Savings wiped out. Life savings turned into wallpaper. That's the whole point of money you're supposed to trust. It's only as strong as the promise behind it, and promises get broken. This is exactly why Satoshi built Bitcoin. A currency nobody can print into oblivion. Believe in that, or keep trusting a system that quietly eats your money while telling you it's fine. Your call. Image: Wikimedia Commons(Lark Davis)
