At the August 20th regular press conference of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bloomberg asked Lin Jian: 'Trump announced the so-called Economic Normandy Landing against Iran and threatened Iran's trade partners. Although China wasn't explicitly named, China purchases a large amount of Iranian oil, so it's pretty clear who this is targeting. What is China's view?'
Lin Jian's full response: 'Sanctions and pressure do not help resolve issues. China calls on all relevant parties to take responsible actions and resolve issues through political and diplomatic means.'
PS: Actually, Bloomberg referred to Trump's proposed Economic D-Day, which is economic sanctions against Iran. The official Chinese translation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rendered it as Economic Normandy Landing.
