[DBS: Bank of Japan May Accelerate Rate Hikes to Once Every 3-4 Months] BlockBeats News, August 18 – In a commentary, three analysts from DBS Group Research stated that the Bank of Japan might accelerate its rate hike pace from the current once every six months to once every three to four months. The analysts noted: 'We have moved forward our expectation for the Bank of Japan's next rate hike to September and anticipate two additional rate hikes in the first and second quarters of 2027. By mid-2027, the overnight borrowing rate is expected to reach 1.75%.' They also pointed out that the Bank of Japan's recent stance has become more hawkish, and the Japanese government seems less opposed to earlier rate hikes. DBS Group has also revised Japan's GDP growth forecast for 2026 from 0.5% to 0.9% and for 2027 from 0.5% to 1.0%. (Jin10)
